Join RH is comprised of two applications, the Administrative and the Managerial. The Administrative application uses the client-server structure and the Managerial is a web application.

The following topics address the infrastructure requirements needed to implement both applications.

Workstations

Below are the minimum requirements for system operations:

  • Windows 2000 or later operating system
  • Internet Explorer version 7
  • MDAC 2.8.1 only for SQL Server database
  • Oracle Client only for Oracle database
  • 128 MB of RAM memory
  • Video resolution of 800x600

The requirements below are recommended for better user experience:

  • Windows XP or later operating system
  • Internet Explorer version 7 or later
  • Oracle Client only for Oracle database
  • 256 MB of RAM memory
  • Video resolution of 1024x768

Servers

The servers shall host the database system for storing system data, Administrative application files and the web server needed for the Managerial application. These functions can be executed by the same server or by different servers.

SMTP Server
The company shall have an SMTP server available. Join RH will use this server to send e-mails of the system’s diverse functions.

File server
The file server is needed to host the runnable and other Administration module configuration files. It is necessary to have a Windows file server with sharing accessible to system users and at least 40 MB of free space on the disk.

Database server
The Join RH database can be installed on Oracle Database or Microsoft SQL Server systems.

  • Oracle Database 8i (8.1.7) or later;
  • Operating system according to the Oracle version chosen. Oracle currently supports Windows Server (after version 2000), Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server systems;
  • Hard disk with at least 600 MB of free space;

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP4 or later;
  • Operating system according to the SQL Server version chosen. The Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 are currently supported;
  • Hard disk with at least 600 MB of free space;

Database licenses must be named, identifying the total number of users, or by processor, if the managerial module is installed which is used over the Intranet and/or Internet.

It is important to underscore that we will not be held responsible for database configuration in the company’s server.
The company is responsible for configuring workstation access and eventual remote access for other locations. If the company wants, we can offer this service which shall be the object of another job proposal.

Web server
The web server is necessary to host the Managerial application. System requirements are:

  • Windows Server or Linux operating system;
  • 1GB of free RAM memory;
  • 700 MB of space on hard disk;
  • Java Development Kit 6.0;
  • Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server 3.0 application server or similar.

Security characteristics and other resources

Join RH is developed using latest generation technologies and technique that provide high access security to the applications and its data, while also permitting a high degree of personalization in access permissions.

Authentication

Possibility of personalizing the system for integration with centralized authentication systems (Single Sign-On) acquired by the company, however the cost is not included in the installation project:

  • RSA Access Manager: produced by RSA, a division of EMS. We can analyze installation for Managerial Join RH;
  • Central Authentication Service: produced by JA-SIG, a Sun Microsystems partner. Integration with this system is already available;
  • Others: We can analyze installation of Join RH together with the Single Sign-On system used by the company.

Control of authentication and sessions in the Managerial Join RH, blocking users from entering modules directly through the URL without being properly authenticated.

Cryptography

Possibility for installation in a web server with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) cryptography. Cost not included in the installation project.

Internationalization

The Managerial module is available in Spanish and English.

Policies and permissions

Configurable access policies, among various resources, it is possible to configure:

  • Password expiration period;
  • Creation of passwords with a minimum number of characters;
  • Creation of passwords comprised of different types of characters;
  • Restriction of access by IP addresses.

System of access permissions for specific users:

  • Access only for employees, positions, remuneration, performance and other information from the area.

System of access permissions for groups of users. Access restriction for reading and maintenance at all system modules and reports can be configured in a detailed manner.

Electronic approval

Electronic approval system with passwords and encrypted data, guaranteeing information integrity.

The electronic approval system is available for the Performance Evaluation, Training Evaluation and Workflow modules for hiring, raise and/or promotion and internal transfer petitions.
